Dr Sherwin Ramghulam, grew up in Verulam and is currently residing in Richard’s Bay. He studied the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees (MBChB) and the Master of Medicine (MMed) in Cardiothoracic at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). He went on to obtain his Fellowship of the College of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of South Africa: FC Cardio (SA). Dr Ramghulam has accomplished some notable achievements over the years; he performed the first beating heart triple bypass with arterial conduits in KZN in 2017 and later in 2018, he performed the first minimally invasive beating heart surgery in South Africa. Dr Ramghulam has been practicing as a Specialist Cardiothoracic Surgeon for 9 years. “I really enjoy what I do. I have always been passionate about cardiothoracic since I was a little boy. I find the field fascinating and always look forward to satisfying outcomes with patients. I began private practice at KwaDukuza Private Hospital, and this is where my first case was done. I enjoy working at this hospital with the remarkable team of specialists and staff to provide patients with excellent outcomes”, shared Dr Ramghulam.

He completed postgraduate training in Pietermaritzburg (2019-2022) obtaining a Fellowship of the college of Obstetricians and Gynecologist of South Africa [FCOG (SA)] and Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He worked as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. He has passion for women’s health from children, adolescence to old age (post menopause). He has 8 years’ experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, of which 2 years as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He said “I joined Women’s health because I felt I could positively contribute to the wellbeing of women and reduction of maternal mortality. We all know the importance of women to the well-being of the whole nation. I have specialist interest in high-risk obstetrics and minimally invasive gynecological surgery.”
He loves running and keeping fit during his free time having completed 10 Comrades marathons to date, shared by Dr Mdlalose.

Dr Yashien Singh, grew up in KwaDukuza and is currently residing in Mount Edgecombe. He studied the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) at the University of Pretoria, obtained his Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Orth (SA)) and the Master of Medicine (MMed) at the University at KwaZulu-Natal. Dr Singh has been practicing as a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon for 3 years now and is very excited to bring his skill to the community of his hometown, KwaDukuza, which he holds very closely to his heart. “I love what I do, and that passion can be seen in the outcomes of my work. I am very happy to be practicing in my hometown and want to give back to the community as much as I can”, shared Dr Singh.

Dr Prenolin Kistnasami, grew up in Tongaat and is currently residing in Ballito. He studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and obtained his Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa FC Orth (SA). Dr Kistnasami has been practicing as a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2011. The 9 years of experience in the field has taught him that the job of orthopaedic surgeons is never a boring one. “Every case is interesting and different as we get to operate on the entire body. With the job, comes many challenges, and we get the opportunity to learn a lot every day”, shared Dr Kistnasami.

Dr Mchunu started his undergraduate degree at the University of Villa Clara (Cuba) which he completed at Wits University in 2008.
Dr Mchunu was born in Stanger. He worked at KwaDukuza Provincial Hospital before moving to Gauteng for specialization in Orthopedics.
Immediately after finishing his specialty in 2021,he returned to serve his community of Stanger. He currently serves as a specialist at GJG Hospital (KwaDukuza). Dr Manogaran (also known as Marlin) Naicker, grew up in Tongaat and is currently residing in Ballito. Dr Naicker has been practicing as a Specialist Gynaecologist and Obstetrician for 12 years. “I am passionate about bringing new life into the world and interacting with moms and dads, especially first-time parents. I also enjoy the challenges of difficult surgery and the challenges and demands of laparoscopic surgery. I have a special interest in laparoscopic gynae surgery. I have been practicing in KwaDukuza for the last 10 years and I am committed to serving the community. The patients are very warm and have always been appreciative of what we do for them,” shared Dr Naicker.

Dhiren Sadhabiriss, grew up in the North Coast and is currently residing in La Mercy. He studied the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB), obtained his Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa (FCP(SA)) and Master of Medicine (MMed) – Internal Medicine from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). He is currently a fellow in critical care at UKZN. Dr Sadhabiriss has been practicing as a Specialist Physician for 5 years. “To make people feel better is what my passion is. I enjoy practicing in this close-knit community of KwaDukuza, and I have a close-knit relationship with all my patients. I genuinely care for the general wellbeing of this community. Dr Zemfundo Portia Malevu, grew up in Kwa-Mbonambi Reserve in Empangeni and is currently residing in Salt Rock. She studied the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and obtained her Fellowship of the College of Diagnostic Radiologists of South Africa: FC Rad Diag (SA). Dr Malevu has been practicing as a Radiologist for the past 10 years. “I am passionate about radiology because it is one field that encompasses most (if not all) medical disciplines by making use of digital imaging modalities in assisting various specialists in managing their patients. I worked at the General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Regional Hospital for 3 years before opening a private radiology practice in the central business district of KwaDukuza, which has been servicing the local general practitioners by providing various imaging modalities. I enjoy being part of the KwaDukuza Private Hospital specialist team, who are working tirelessly to improve the lives and promoting the health of the Kwa-Dukuza community at large,” shared Dr Malevu.

Dr Kabongo hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He graduated from the School of Medicine (Universite de Lubumbashi) DR Congo, in 2003. In 2021 he obtained his fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa from the College of Medicine of South Africa and his Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the University of Kwazulu-Natal.

Dr Eneshra Padayachee, grew up in Pietermaritzburg and is currently residing in Sheffield beach along the North Coast. Dr Padayachee has been practicing as a Specialist Urologist for the past 13 years. “I am passionate about my field of work because urology is always evolving, and I find that intriguing. I am all for minimal invasive surgery. I enjoy seeing to patients who come in with problems and leave the hospital feeling better. Dr Navendren( Nav) Govender is a Specialist Surgeon with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He has performed over 10000 laparoscopic surgeries to date. He did his undergraduate training at UKZN and qualified in 1999 and did his postgraduate studies at UKZN and obtained his Fellowship in Surgery in 2007.
