World Heart Day was celebrated globally on Tuesday, 29 September, and this year’s theme was “Use Heart to Beat Cardiovascular Disease (CVD)”. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death on the planet. It has many causes: from smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, to air pollution, and rare and neglected conditions such as Chagas Disease and cardiac amyloidosis. Our Medical ward team got together to create awareness for this event and arranged a table outside the ward, with pamphlets based on Healthy Lifestyle and Living supplied by Lancet Laboratories. Heart-shaped balloons, posters, mini heart-shaped cut-outs and badges were at the table which was covered in a themed red and white tablecloth.
