KPH celebrates National Emergency Services Day
We commemorated this day by inviting local ambulance services, the Umhlali South African Police Services (SAPS) K9 Unit, the KwaDukuza Fire Department, the KwaDukuza Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), the team from Ndlondlo Reptile Park and KPH staff to attend the celebrations. The day kicked-off with a talk about the importance of national emergency services, by Director of L.S. Trauma at the KPH Emergency Department, Dr Grant Lindsay. Thereafter, an informative discussion and demonstration was held by Ndlondlo Reptile Park’s professional snake handler, Neville Wolmarans. Wolmarans, who educated attendees about the various snakes and how to deal with the venomous ones common along the Dolphin Coast in cases of snake bites. Employees of the KwaDukuza Emergency Services Fire Department presented on fire safety and educated attendees on how to rightfully make use of a fire extinguisher. The event wrapped up with our Emergency Department staff and doctor cutting a cake and celebrating another successful year of dealing with emergencies.
