National Pharmacy Week was extended to a full month this year by the South African Pharmacy Council. To celebrate Pharmacy Month this September, KwaDukuza Private Hospital (KPH) spent the entire month hosting exciting competitions; medical word searches, crossword puzzles, estimation tests and speed counting, and, also treated patients who visited the pharmacy with goodie bags.
“Our Pharmacy ran competitions to create awareness amongst the hospital staff, visitors and in-patients. This year’s theme is “Use Medicines Wisely”, which covers four important aspects of medication: specifically; know your medicines, travel safely with your medicines, talk to your pharmacists and store your medicines correctly”, said KPH Pharmacy Manager Dhirendra Redhi.
Pharmacists and pharmacy personnel across the country participate in a variety of activities to promote the profession under the theme. The theme is aimed at educating the public about the importance of using medicine correctly to achieve quality healthcare results.
National Pharmacy Month acknowledges the invaluable contributions the pharmacy profession makes to patient care in all healthcare settings by ensuring the safe and effective use of medication.
